We’re visiting one of our favourite games next in our completion series, that of Xenoblade Chronicles. We’ve spent altogether far too much time with this game, spanning countless years of our lives. It’s inception on the Nintendo Wii was a revelation to us, opening our eyes to just how impressive open worlds can be, especially when they’re thematically tied into an overarching story and theme. Adding a compelling cast and an absolutely incredible battle system was truly a recipe for success, or at the very least made the developers very successful at eating our weekends and evenings for months at a time.

It’s wonderful to see the series finally get it’s flowers, and to see the sequels do so well. Operation Rainfall was a huge success, and we owe a great debt to the group of gamers that brought this game and others to our shores. It might be a little late for a remake of The Last Story, sadly, but what was borne out of the Xenoblade series is surely good enough.

Tanking is such an unusual term for a non MMORPG game like Xenoblade Chronicles. It’s loosely defined as deliberately making opponents be aggressive towards one particular character, otherwise known as ‘Aggro’. These unit are typically more defensive in nature, designed to soak up damage whilst the remainder of the party can dish it out. They’re…
